Lessons learned : Spotlight from Business First

Our CEO Sharon Brown was recently interviewed by Allissa Kline of Buffalo's Buisness First. The article spotlights her drastic move from keeping the books to becoming the CEO of Brown Electric. Here is a snippet from the article.

----

Sharon Brown’s career took an unexpected turn when she assumed ownership of her late husband’s electrical contracting business in April 2003.

She had kept the books for the company known as Tom Brown Electric Inc. since its inception in 1981. When her husband, Tom, died suddenly, Sharon thought she would have to close the business.

Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On November 1, 2012 at 10AM we will be welcoming our Friends from the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency, M & T Bank, Local Officials and Guests to our Official Grand Opening.

We have been very busy moving from our 2,000 Square Foot Warehouse in the City of Tonawanda to our new 8,500 Square Foot Warehouse in the Town of Pendleton.

As we are approaching our 32nd year in business this January 2013, we are very proud of our new facility and our accomplishments!

I am so grateful for everyone who has helped me accomplish my goals. As we all know, owning a business is not easy these days.

Our success is truly due to the loyalty of our Customers, the dedication of my Employees and the encouragement from all my Friends and Family!  I am truly blessed!

Cutting Corners

I was recently in a newer restaurant on Maple Road. My friends noticed the decor. I noticed the electrical work! More specifically, I noticed the things hanging over our heads, the lights. They were hung on cords above the tables. You've seen these lights all over the place. The problem is that they were all uneven. Then I noticed that the cover plates and switches were crooked.

Why would a contractor do this?

Didn't he care about his reputation or was this just a once and done job?

It's not very difficult to make sure everything is aligned and looking great. It just takes a little extra thought and care. Next time you're out take a look and you'll find that this kind of corner cutting happens too often.

If that was your business, how would you want it done?
